LIVE IN DOMESTIC HOUSE COUPLE - A private estate situated in West Berkshire requires an honest, enthusiastic, and preferably experienced couple to work alongside the Estate Manager. One of the couple should be a confident all-rounder. The main residence used to be a watermill and there are several original sluice gate control systems still in use. Some previous experience in mechanical engineering would be advantageous (although not a requirement), as would the ability to recognise faults and put into action any necessary repairs. Familiarisation and training will be provided in all areas. Swimming pool and spa maintenance would be a bonus. Candidates should be willing and able to undertake general maintenance duties when they arise. Occasionally working alongside the existing gardening team during busy times. They should also be prepared to assist the Estate Manager with other estate tasks as and when required. The partner will take on the role of House Manager, working in the house and should have high standards and a keen eye for detail. Their role will include housekeeping, laundry, including the care of fine fabrics, flower arranging, and general household duties, including serving at table, and the ability to cook light healthy meals when the chef is unavailable. There is a well-established team of part time household staff to assist as required. Staff uniform supplied. The estate has a welcoming environment therefore applicants must have a friendly and flexible approach to work, with a willingness to work hard, and be an integral part of a small team. The residence is a second home and can be very busy during the summer, therefore you will be expected to work longer hours with time off in lieu during the quieter periods. Flexibility to work weekends (with time off in lieu) when needed, mainly during the summer months. Preferably you should both have a full clean UK driving licence. Full security screening and references will be required before the vacancy is offered to the successful candidates. ACCOMMODATION: A well maintained, recently refurbished apartment offered with all utilities paid. Unfortunately, unsuitable for pets or dependants. Non-smokers. SALARY: Excellent package on offer dependant on experience and suitability.
